DILLWEED

Dill weed is an herb that can be used as a spice in cooking. Dill weed was originally grown by the ancient Greeks who would use it medicinally but also as a flavoring agent when they cooked their meat and vegetables. One of the ways to use it would be by drying or fresh with chopped onion, garlic, and sauerkraut for making savory dishes such as goulash soup from Eastern Europe.

Origin: Egypt, the Mediterranean region

Flavor profile: sweet with an "anise-like" taste

Used in: soups, stews, salad dressings

Health benefits:  a good source of vitamin A, which helps with vision. It also has many antioxidants and flavonoids that have been proven to help protect the body from oxidative stress.
